Go Back, You're Going the Wrong Way!
Which are the worst - Trumps policies or his lack of personal principles?
The hopes and dreams for a fairer world and a more inclusive society brought to us by the eloquent Barack Obama have been shattered with Donald Trump's election victory. We're in for a rough ride. An unstable, US government led by an erratic and unpredictable US President is not what the western world needs right now but the biggest losers in this elction result have been integrity and honesty.
Trump boasted at the start of his election campaign that no matter what he said or did, he could even shoot people on the street, people would still vote for him. That proved pretty much metaphorically correct and it speaks volumes for those who supported him.
Trump has a self-admitted track record of molesting women without their consent. What sensible man would ever leave his own wife or daughter in the same room alone with him?
During the campaign Trump said many demeaning and derogatory things about women, including a boast that he could grab their pussies whenever he wanted to. A dozen women have made allegations that he has molested them. He has two court cases coming up, one for sexual assault and another for fraud.
Grubby characters need to be called out for what they are, not excused because someone else was grubby too.
The bottom line is that America has voted a self-confessed sexual predator into the White House, sending the wrong message to men, who should have rejected him on that issue alone.
As a person he is not fit to be leader of the Western world. The Age wrote before the election: "The issue is whether a party and individuals want to be remembered for defending a moral monster".
It is astonishing that people are still defending this awful person who hijacked the American Presidency with a personal agenda of doing what he likes, when he likes, to whom he likes.
Cognitive dissonance occurred in the congregations who defended the priests in their church, in the face of mounting evidence that children in their care had been molested and raped and it has now happened with people who continue to defend Trump regardless of all the ugly things he says and does.
Treating 50% of the human population as though it were a different, inferior, sub-species is an appalling stance.
Men should use their power to promote women, to respect them and use their strength to protect them.
The concept of people living happily together and respecting each other, despite their differences, is being thrown out.
The gays, the muslims, the non-whites and the non-believers will all be pushed back in the closet and live in fear of state promoted mob hate.
He wants retribution against women who have abortions.
He wants more guns, not less.
His ethnic cleansing proposals are sickening and reminiscent of the doctrine of 1930s Germany.
I am saddened that there are so many people and institutions who treat women as second class citizens - and that a man who has just been elected to the White House is one of them.
In 2008, the US took a bold step forward in electing their first coloured President. This time they could have either taken a further step forward and elected their first female President - instead they took a step backwards and elected a divisive, misogynistic, xenophobic male nightmare.
I cannot and will not accept male supremacism - any more than I would accept white supremacism, heterosexual supremacism or Christian supremacism.
Even if Trumps policies were in exact line with my own - which they are not - I would never support or encourage the election of a man with no principles. Which is what half of the American voters have done.
If you defend or vote for a man with no principles, that throws your own principles into question too.
