When trying to observe from home with my Meade LX-90 8" diameter telescope, I concluded it would be easiest if I assembled the telescope in the garage beforehand and relocated it to my observing position when I needed it.
This involved lifting a complete telescope and tripod assembly (well above 25 kg) from my garage to my driveway - a distance of less than ten metres - and I injured my back twice this year whilst carrying out this procedure. I needed a better solution, so I bought a tripod wheely bar.
It was despatched from JMI Telescopes in Lakewood, Colorado, USA on a Friday and the 8 kg package was delivered to my door the next Wednesday morning.
It took me about ten minutes to assemble:
The wheely bar is a robust and handy additional accessory to my telescope equipment.
It comes complete with wheel brakes and levelling bolts to raise, stabilise and level the telescope assembly.
I think I installed the wide fender washers incorrectly in the above photo. The instructions were not clear but it seems the washer is provided to stablise the mount if it is intended to use it in soft ground. I should have installed them near the ground above the rubber feet.
