They tell us that morality only comes through "us" - the one true faith. "You" can only be moral if you are one of "us."
So they arrogantly claim, loud and often. They preach to us that morality stems only from Christianity. Their own brand of Catholic Christianity in particular is particularly "moral", of course.
Now the obscene 300 page chronicle of "impropriety, cronyism and corruption" unfolds in this Sydney Morning Herald article.
An "underground gay network" in a Vatican full of corrupt sex-starved, blackmailing cardinals - breaching their own oft stated Sacred Commandments (thou shalt not commit adultery; and thou shalt not steal), not to mention their godly vows of celibacy.
The "world leaders of morality" in their sanctimonious, homophobic grandiloquence, have been exposed in an immoral "web of blackmail, corruption and gay sex in the Vatican."
It matters not whether priests have homosexual tendencies (except when they practice it on children). It is not my concern that they have committed adultery or whether they are incelibate. What does matter is that the Vatican, selling itself as the owners of morality and lecturing the rest of us what we can and cannot do, is off its face behind closed doors doing all the things it piously says others should not.
Add to that a repugnant Pope, culpably unable to distinguish right from wrong and seeking immunity from prosecution for the crimes of failing to report sexual offences, harbouring criminal priests and covering up their paedophilia.
I doubt if there is a single person in the Vatican who understands the very first thing about what good morality means or how to practice it.
