I want to take a picture of the one day old Moon but I keep forgetting to look the day after New Moon and it's not easy to find near the horizon, anyway.
So here are two more images of a two day old Moon, taken with camera on tripod, using the old 70-300mm Canon lens @f/5.6.
1. exposed for the Lunar crescent:
Canon EOS 60D, fl=300mm, f/5.6, 1.3 seconds, ISO1600
2: exposed for Earthshine:
Canon EOS 60D, fl=300mm, f/5.6, 5 seconds, ISO1600
The Moon was very low and these images were hastily taken, because there were heavy low clouds and I ended up with only a total of three minutes to experiment before the Moon was lost for the night. I must try the same next month, using the Polarie mount to track the Moon's motion.
