These are just some of my recent published comments concerning the dire need to replace the submersible Glenfield Causeway with a safe and modern bridge and I've been banging on about it for years.

This tragic debate has not progressed over the last forty years since Campbelltown became a growth centre. We know that Campbelltown Council cannot afford $20-$30M to construct it - but there are four major stakeholders, not just one. The others are Liverpool Council and the State & Federal Governments.
It is a disgrace that these four stakeholders will not sit around a table in goodwill to work out how to equitably share the cost four ways in the interest of their constituents. They should be locked in a room until they reach a decision to proceed immediately.
The key to resolving this lies with urgent bi-partisan action from our local State and Federal MPs. Waiting for the proposed Intermodal Terminal to resolve it is not an action plan and we can do better than keep repeating that it's a federal issue not a state issue, or vice versa.
I had high hopes that Federal MP Laurie Ferguson (Werriwa) would actively seek funding for the bridge. However, I am dismayed by his reported comments that "this is predominantly a state and council issue" and "the federal government shouldn't be expected to fork out the cash." Has he given up already? His statement is uninspiring and lacks vision and he has it in him to do a lot better than that.
The previous MP for Werriwa raised the issue in federal parliament, when he was in Opposition. > Here <
The causeway needs replacing urgently and forty years of passing the buck is a tragedy and a scandal.
Where is the statesman who can rise above the fiasco and negotiate a solution?
