Something I had in mind for a while was uploading my images to Google Earth. So I joined Panoramio twelve months ago and started uploading pictures. I currently have 220 images accepted for Google Earth and have embarked on a project of taking as many shots around Campbelltown as possible. Here are two of the latest.
This is a beautiful statue of Elizabeth Macquarie, wife of the original Governor Macquarie. Her maiden name was Campbell and "at a place close" to the statue, her husband named Campbelltown in her honour. The legend is that she regularly distributed blue and white iris corms amongst the local residents and her statue shows her watering her own garden.
This war memorial obelisk is located in Mawson Park and the old sandstone Campbelltown Court House is seen behind.
