For some strange reason, some people like to keep cats as pets. An odd choice but it's their choice. However, I wish they wouldn't inflict their animals on other people.
Two weeks ago I lost yet another bird bath which a cat toppled over, cracking it in two. No doubt the wretched animal was chasing birds or taking a short cut up the peach tree.
Last week as we were going to bed, there was a bang outside the window, followed immediately by a cat making a painful wailing sound for several minutes. Next morning I found a timber gate paling on the ground, with nails pointing upwards. Obviously the cat had loosened the paling by regularly leaping on it to enter and leave my garden and this time the paling must have fallen off and the cat landed on one of the upturned nails. Some might say it got it's just reward for breaking my bird bath.
A few responsible cat owners restrain their pets from wandering into other people's property. Most owners don't bother and their neighbours have to foot the bill for the damage, not to mention having to clean up their droppings and remove the innocent birds they have killed.
