Today, religion is redundant.
There is no further need for it. We know enough about our world to know how everything works, without inventing a mute and invisible spirit in the sky who pulls the levers and controls our destiny. Yet three quarters of the world's population still irrationally prefer to hand over their minds, their money and their children to the greed of churches which lie; and to priests whom they ought not to trust.
Our ancestors knew no better, they had no concept of science. Their belief in spirits was understandable. Besides, if they professed disbelief, they would be tortured and killed. That was a good enough reason for "belief." However, human progress should - by now - have awoken us to a better understanding of our world and our Universe - as it really is, not as we would like to imagine it is. In fact it has; we have the knowledge to liberate our minds but most instead still cling to ancient delusions rather than face up to the truth.
The mass slaughter, suicide and large-scale destruction wreaked on America ten years ago, on 11th Sept. 2001 was a direct consequence of the refusal of generation after generation of humanity to cast aside the foolish fantasies inherited from bygone centuries.
Without religion, there would have been no 9/11; so you can take your gods, your spirits, your holy books and shove 'em where the sun doesn't shine.
