New Purchase

Last month I bought two new astro-cams, one of which I featured in my previous post.

The ZWO ASI 071MC-Pro Colour was bought mainly for deep sky wide field astro-photography and the ZWO ASI 290MC Colour was bought for narrow field work such as planetary nebulae and planets.

At the same time I also purchased a star analyser.

This table analyses the four options I have for my two cameras mounted on my two telescopes. The shaded area indicates the objects which would be theoretically too large for that particular combination.

Thus the Helix nebula will be 35% larger than the FOV for the LX-90 with the ASI290MC. Messier M31 would be theoretically too big for all combinations.

As for the star analyser, that has yet to be tried but I have carried out a single test on both cameras, posing a lot of questions and indicating new methods of imaging procedures and image processing methods to be learned and adopted.
