Sep 14: The Law Is An Ass
...and so is the Parliament.
What a complete and utter mess the Australian Parliament is now in, over Marriage Equality!
Today it was drawn to my attention that the 2004 Marriage Amendment Act, which was designed to specifically exclude same sex couples from marrying, is itself in direct conflict with the Sex Discrimination Act 1984, which outlaws discrimination "against another person on the ground of the aggrieved person's sexual orientation."
As some say, the law is an ass - and so is the Parliament on this particular issue...............
