There is a very silly meme being propagated around Facebook by someone called 'The Whimsical Right' which states that global mean temperature in 2016 is identical to 1996.
The author failed to realise that 2016 is less than four months old (it's only mid-April) and the 2016 figures won't even be available for another nine months.
Yet even for 2015, the average mean global temperature has risen, according to NASA statistics. In 2015 it was 0.87 degrees above the 1951-1980 mean.
Which to believe? NASA or The Whimsical Right?
Your choice may be influenced by whether you are an armchair scientist with an entrenched desire to keep your head in a bucket of sand - or whether you are prepared to accept evidence from qualified scientists and scientific institutions who/which actually study climate change.
The only way you will get a level temperature over the last few decades is by tilting the graph paper to the right.......literally, politically and perhaps whimsically.
