If anyone can get America dreaming again, it would be Neil de Grasse Tyson, who has taken over the mantle as one of Astronomy's top communicators.
- If all the taxpayers money wasted on worthlessly propping up religion had instead been spent on space research, how far ahead we would be right now.
- If all the man-hours wasted on glorification of a non-existant superman had been spent on designing and building manned spacecraft, we would have humans orbiting Saturn by now, instead of a single robot.
- If all the money left on church plates every Sunday had been donated to NASA instead, we might have colonised space and begun dreaming of going to the stars.
Human priorities are wrong. I'm one of the lucky generation who watched the Moon race as it happened. This is what I saw on my parent's black and white tv:
I dreamed then that nothing could stop us going to the stars and I couldn't believe it when they pulled the plug only a few years later. I still dream that we will go back into space but that will only happen if men like Neil de Grasse Tyson can convince American politicians to dream, to have a long-term vision. Sadly, that won't happen.
