So many UFO "sightings" ....
There are two common answers when people are asked to speculate about the possible existence of aliens. A Type 1 answer is a very strongly held belief that aliens must exist "because there are so many stars out there." (I wrote about Type 1 answers > here < ). A Type 2 answer is the belief that alien activity, in the form of "UFOs," already exists here on Earth.
No-one has supplied credible evidence for alien activity here on Earth. No alien has asked a policeman to be taken to our leader. No alien has left a food wrapper behind, or dropped an alien communicator. No alien refuse or sewage disposal dump has been found anywhere. No mining or farming activities have been observed. No caves where they hide their mother ships or scout craft have been located. No camp fires, no smoke, no footprints, no messages and no clues. They have left no evidence whatsoever behind. No-one has taken reliable photographs or video recordings to prove their UFO claims. No one has retrieved a discarded alien spanner with a strange shape, made out of Alpha-Centauri material yet to be discovered by us, or a worn out Vegan electronic circuit board or a light globe mined from planet 42 Draconis b.
Professional astronomers, with their powerful optical telescopes, don't see "UFOs," nor do they pick them up with their other telescopes in radio, infra-red, ultra-violet or x-rays. Amateur astronomers spend a lot of time looking at the night sky but never see UFOs. Government agencies have no knowledge of them. Finding no factual evidence is quite an under-achievement for "Ufologists," considering the number of alien "UFOs" supposed to be zipping around. We don't pick up their radio messages or detect them on radar. Their vehicles are silent, they don't communicate with us or even with themselves, they remain mysteriously hidden and they leave no discarded evidence whatsoever of their existence.
Yet still people "believe" they exist. I'm not trying to create parallels with religion but they are uncannily alike.
The rationale is that aliens are here but they are hiding from us. Humans see best during the daytime but rarely are daylight "UFOs" reported. Despite this, the number of reported night "sightings" of brightly lit "UFOs is disproportionately high and I have yet to read a satisfactory reason why the supposed aliens would try to hide during the day - yet brightly light up their spacecraft at night for all to see as they go about their alien business as a light in the sky.
No "UFO" observer ever explains why they see no rocket exhaust, why they hear no engine noise or what their method of propulsion could be as they nip around all over the place.
No "UFO" enthusiast considers earthly reasons before jumping to conclusions: "There's a light in the sky + I don't know what it is = alien spacecraft."
Night sightings are usually explainable, not as "UFOs" but as "FOs" such as helicopters, aircraft or orbiting satellites; or even as the planets Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter or Saturn,or atmospheric phenomena such as Moon Dogs, mirages etc. or even bats or birds or army flares.
A multiple daytime sighting was reported a couple of years ago in Sydney and interpreted by "Ufologists" as a mothership and scout craft. It was also reported that someone had released several helium-filled balloons from a birthday party nearby at that time. Despite this, a "UFO expert" pronounced the sighting was almost certainly "genuine."
Keeping an open mind is important but whether or not alien life exists elswhere in the Universe, there is no credible evidence for flying saucers buzzing around our planet. None at all.
