This letter appeared, apparently, in an Alaskan newspaper. It was posted in Facebook by my friend Trevor but it'd origins are unknown.
This letter is a call for a christian theocracy to replace democracy in the USA. It smacks of medieval mind control. It's author has probably seen how religion rules by hatred and brutality in Iran (and other middle-eastern countries) and wants christianity to emulate it in America. The letter demands a return to the dark ages when religious dissent was always met with a brutal response and it is telling us that christian bigotry is alive and well in the USA.
"You MUST believe. You can believe in any variation of god you like but you can't ask questions. Doubters will be punished. If you start thinking for yourself; or question what we stuffed into your head as a child; or even dare to start thinking for yourself - then I want you out of our christian country, right now."
How very christian of her. Only a few weeks ago a christian pastor called for America to create a public list of all Atheists, so that christians could put them all out of business. When Americans do bigotry and intolerance, they don't do it by halves. Now I know how the blacks felt.
Christian folks always tote themselves as good people. Christian leaders will always claim they are the sole owners of morality. Yet christianity spawns many followers who will stop at nothing to force others to 'believe' in their own imaginary friend. That is when their morality deserts them. That is why America's world leadership in scientific endeavour is fading. Instead of building on the advanced technological society which they currently enjoy, they are building "replicas" of Noah's imaginary ark and inserting other symbols of christianity into every walk of life whenever they can.
When fanaticism and bigotry take over, truth is always the first casualty. Far from "causing the ruin" of any nation, Atheists are just ordinary people who have shaken off their childhood indoctrination and rediscovered their individual thought processes. Atheists do not "practice what can only be called evil", they simply don't waste their time going to church on Sundays; and they don't seek to expel all christians from any country.
We have a letter writer much like this here in Campbelltown.....
