Today Mr. Ratzinger told his billion strong flock to believe in talking snakes, a tree of knowledge, rib-woman and a 6 day creation.
He stressed that humanity isn't a random product of evolution and emphasised the biblical account of creation in his Easter Vigil homily (whatever that is), saying it was wrong to think at some point "in some tiny corner of the cosmos there evolved randomly some species of living being capable of reasoning and of trying to find rationality within creation, or to bring rationality into it. "He emphasised the "biblical account of creation"
Oh dear! If the human race is ever to progress, we must shake off the glib nonsense of creationism and learn to trust the proven hard evidence that points us towards a different, more truthful conclusion about our own origins, the beginnings of the Solar System and the Universe itself. There are plenty of science books that deal with these topics, probably thousands of them. Science is simply a name for going out and getting the facts. Yet throw a few facts at a religious person and it's like water off a duck's back, if it contradicts their belief.
Why do people toss out their ability to think rationally when it comes down to science or their favourite religious superstition?
