Kevin Rudd Caused The Floods...
Religion is always demanding respect. Yet what is there to respect when they come up with such looney pronouncements.
A group of misinformed Christians called "Catch The Fire Ministries" apparently believes that Kevin Rudd caused the floods in Queensland by speaking against Israel on 14th December 2010; and they also egotistically believe that their tiny prayer gathering caused the floods to subside. A small Christian cult they may be - but their delusonal thinking still resembles what the rest of the 2.1 billion Christians on this barking mad planet believe, i.e that their god's wrath causes disasters; and that the prayers of the chosen few will convince their god to ever-so-slightly relent when she is hell-bent on destruction. The delusional medieval postulations of this particular group and other groups large & small around the world that think like them are never tested, never proven, never investigated, never examined and they are never denounced by the many other branches of the fragmented Christian faith or any other faith. They all say what they like and no-one challenges it.
If you are someone who claims that your particular god saved lives in the Queensland floods, then consider the following:
Just because this disastrous flood did not go higher than it actually did, does not mean that your prayers were answered by a supernatural being. It actually means that the water flow slowed naturally; and it also begs the question why you were not praying for no floods in the first place.
Because you imagine that your god was responsible for turning off the tap, then you must also imagine that your god also happily turned it on first; and that she was directly and personally responsible for all that monstrous damage and loss of life. What a nice god she must be. She causes all that death, destruction and havoc, then you incongruously heap on all the praise & worship, all the gratitude & glory that you can muster, because you have the small-minded gullibiliy to think that your prayers induced your god to reduce the value of this vast human misery by maybe 0.001%.
Have you not ever considered that a natural disaster could just be a natural disaster? Have you not considered that here, as in any natural disaster, there was a fulcrum about which a deteriorating situation began to tilt in favour of stability and improvement - whether you were praying or not? All you wanted to do was hide and pray but if you really wanted to help, you would have joined the Fire Brigade, the Ambulance Service, the Police, a medical team, a rescue squad or a volunteer clean-up group. Because the ONLY way to do something useful is to actually do something useful.
The Rudd statement - which you say moved your peace-loving and anger-ridden god to flood innocent people in South East Queensland - apparently refers to his reiteration of long-standing government policy that "all states including Israel should become accessories to the NPT and its associated obligations." You think THAT is flood-worthy? If your imaginary god really wanted to punish those who speak out against Israel, then maybe you ought to be really, really astonished to learn that she has not yet flooded Palestine, Lebanon, Jordan or Iran or any of the other Middle East Countries that have aimed to totally destroy Israel over the last sixty years.
