They indoctrinate young minds at an impressionable age. They do it at Churches. They do it in schools. They do it in homes. They do it everywhere they can. They get into our schools and teach scripture lessons, when the children ought to be learning history or science and they convince governments to pay them to provide school 'chaplains', when what the children really need is a trained counsellor with no ulterior motive.
When the Government introduces ethics classes as an alternative to scripture classes, they want to stop that or at the very least control what is taught as an alternative to what they teach. They get time on radio and tv to spread their word. They even buy up radio and tv licences and broadcast their message 24 hours a day.
They build lobby groups and infiltrate political parties to influence policy-making decisions and even set up their own political parties to influence governments legislation. They ring my front door bell to try to make me fall in love with Jesus and they send missionaries abroad to convert vulnerable people. They invite church leaders to visit from overseas and use their influence to force taxpayers to pay millions for it. They oppose human progress. They want to 'cure' homosexuality. They deny choice to women and they discriminate against women. They won't permit euthanasia or family planning and have been known to kill in support of their anti-abortion stance.
Yet they tolerate the rape of young children by priests and give the perpetrators safe refuge, instead of picking up the phone and calling the police and despite this soft stance on heinous crimes, Christian leaders continue to lecture us about morality. When their beliefs are subjected to criticism, they claim persecution - but religion is a belief system that should properly be subjected to critical analysis, not exempted from it.
